Parmelee, Beltran power Yankees to 12-6 win over Angels
NEW YORK -- Carlos Beltran has been tearing up the Angels all week. This time, he was helped by two recent additions from Triple-A.  Chris Parmelee homered twice and scored three runs in his first start for the Yankees, Beltran added two more big hits to his huge series and New York's bats broke loose late in a 12-6 victory over Los Angeles on Wednesday night.  Anthony Swarzak (1-0) was the winner in his Yankees debut, tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of a shaky Nathan Eovaldi. It was the right-hander's first major league victory since August 2014 with Minnesota.  "I say all the time that not only do we have a good team here but we've got a lot of depth in the minor leagues and those guys obviously are going to be needed throughout the year," New York outfielder Brett Gardner said. "So far those guys have done a really good job of stepping up and we're going to need that to continue."  Parmelee was called up from the minors Saturday when first baseman Mark Teixeira went on the disabled list. Swarzak arrived Tuesday to provide a fresh arm in the bullpen.  "Those guys were big players in Minnesota. Swarzak was getting big innings, and Parmelee has always swung the bat," Yankees catcher Brian McCann said. "They both can play at this level, and tonight was great."  Jacoby Ellsbury homered and scored three times, Gardner had three hits, three runs and two RBI, and the Yankees extended their home winning streak against the Angels to eight games.  New York, which has won 15 of the past 20 meetings overall, will go for a four-game sweep Thursday night.  "We've been swinging the bat a lot better of late," McCann said. "We're playing better baseball. ... I like where everybody's at."  Mike Trout homered in the ninth inning and had three hits and two RBI for the Angels. Gregorio Petit hit a two-run shot and Jefry Marte also went deep for Los Angeles, which has dropped 17 of its last 21 at Yankee Stadium.  "We're getting some leads, but we're just not closing some of these games out," manager Mike Scioscia said.  Trout and Albert Pujols smacked consecutive doubles in the fifth, both with a thud off the padded outfield wall, to give Los Angeles a 5-4 advantage that got away from Jered Weaver (5-5) and an ineffective bullpen.  "Obviously, I haven't fared too well at this stadium over the years," Weaver said.  Alex Rodriguez had an early RBI single for the Yankees, who tied it at 5 when Parmelee led off the sixth with his first major league home run since June 28 last year for Baltimore.  Weaver was lifted after walking Ellsbury on a close 3-2 pitch with one out. Gardner singled against left-hander Jose Alvarez, and Beltran lined an RBI double for his third go-ahead hit in three nights.  The 39-year-old slugger also hit a three-run homer off Alvarez in the eighth inning of the series opener Monday, and a two-run shot in the first inning Tuesday.  "It's a great feeling," Beltran said with a chuckle. "I go home, sleep well."  McCann added a two-run single off Cam Bedrosian to make it 8-5.  Parmelee, who beat the infield shift with a fourth-inning double for his first hit with the Yankees, golfed a two-run homer in the seventh off lefty Greg Mahle before Beltran cracked a two-run drive of his own.  "Kind of took out my 9-iron on that one, I guess," Parmelee said.  SETTING THE TABLE -- Ellsbury and Gardner opened the bottom of the first with consecutive doubles. New York is 11-1 this season and 33-5 since the start of 2015 when they both score in a game.  In the fourth, it appeared Ellsbury lined to right field for the final out of the inning. But he was awarded first base on catcher's interference for the sixth time this season -- no other major league player has done it more than twice. The big league record is eight by Roberto Kelly with the Yankees in 1992.  The call became important when Parmelee then scored on Gardner's single. Ellsbury has reached on catcher's interference 20 times in his career, most in the majors since 2007.  "Anytime you think you have an out and the runner gets on base, it's a change of momentum," Scioscia said.
