Yankees' Key key to 9-3 win over M's
SEATTLE -- Jimmy Key became a 14-Game winner and Gerald Williams homered twice to lead the New York Yankees to a 9-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday night.  Key (14-2) equaled his season-high with eight strikeouts to beat major league strikeout leader Randy Johnson (10-5).  Key also defeated the team that ended his 11-game winning streak July 2.  The left-hander went seven innings and allowed only three hits while walking five as the Yankees won their third straight from the Mariners.  New York took a 1-0 lead in the first on Don Mattingly's RBI double, then made it 3-0 in the second when Mike Stanley hit his 10th homer and Gerald Williams got his first homer of the game.  Alex Rodriguez, Seattle's 18-year-old rookie short-stop playing in his sixth game, collected his first major-league RBI in the second before the Yankees broke the game open with a five-run seventh to chase Johnson.  Gerald Williams hit his second homer of the night and fourth of the season to lead off the inning.  Jim Leyritz and Danny Tartabull followed with bases-loaded walks and Pat Kelly had a two-run double.  The Yankees added a run in the eighth on an RBI double by Randy Velarde.  Seattle got two runs in the eighth on an RBI double by Mike Blowers and a run scoring single by Tino Martinez.  Johnson gave up eight runs on 10 hits and three walks in 6-1/3 innings.  He struck out nine in the game to increase his total to 159.  Notes -0 Key is 32-8 in his 1-1/2 season with the Yankees.  Mattingly had three hits to give him 1,995 for his career.  He is close to becoming the seventh player in Yankees' history to get 2,000 hits.  The others were Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra and Bill Dickey.  Kelly tripled off a left-field Kingdome speaker in the fourth inning.  Bernie Williams hit a line-drive single off Johnson's right foot in the fifth.  Johnson dropped to 5-7 against the Yankees.
